Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Cente of the University of Calicut came into existence on 13th August, 1987 and became a statutory Teaching and Research Department of the University on 06.01.1990. Since its inception the center is imparting Orientation/ Induction Programs, Refresher, and Short Term Courses for College and University teachers. MMTTC is also organizing Professional Development Courses for the Non-Academic Staff, Interaction Program for Ph.D. Scholars / Post Doctoral Fellows, Short Term Course for the Professional Development of Academic Staff of Universities/Colleges, and National level seminars/symposia on various topics in diverse disciplines. In addition to the above-mentioned programs, the MMTTC is organizing specialized training programs of three days duration for the benefit of faculties of Self Financing Engineering Colleges / Training Colleges, etc.
The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Cente is fully facilitated with a sufficient number of techno-savvy classrooms, a well-maintained computer lab, and a resourceful library. We have a full-fledged Guest House exclusively for the participants of MMTTC. The human Resource Development Centre of the University of Calicut plays a vital role in the professional development of teachers through continuous knowledge up-gradation.
Objectives of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Cente
(a) Understand the significance of education in general, and Higher Education in particular, in the global and Indian contexts.
(b) Understand the linkages between education, economic and socio-economic, and cultural development, with particular reference to the Indian polity where democracy,secularism, and social equity are the basic tenets of society.
(c) Acquire and improve the art of teaching at the University / College level to achieve goals of Higher Education.
(d) Keep abreast of the latest developments in their specific subjects.
(e) Understand the organization and management of a University / College and perceive the role of teachers in the total system.
(f) Utilize opportunities for the development of personality, initiative, and creativity and promote computer literacy as well as the use of ICT in the teaching and learning process.
